Founder of Lysias Partners Law firm Member of the Paris Bar Senior Faculty Lecturer at the Paris Institute of Political Studies Doctor of Law Called to the Bar in 1974, Jean-Pierre Mignard is a qualified Defence Counsel for natural persons as well as legal entities, in private and public law. His other fields of intervention cover communications/ press law and intellectual property. Jean-Pierre Mignard has also acted as Counsel for several governments (Republic of Djibouti, Cameroun, Chad, Benin, etc.) in cases of border disputes and in negotiations on oilfield concessions. He is legal advisor to a significant number of French MPs, regional/local councillors and to former members of government. His briefs include some of the more prominent cases in France’s recent legal history: - The case of the Elysée phone tapping (in which numerous political, intellectual, artistic personalities and their immediate circles were secretly phone tapped by French Presidential security services) - The sabotage and destruction of a French civil DC-10 aeroplane flying over Libya - Cases of corruption at Paris Town Hall - The Eurotunnel trial - The shipwreck of the oil tanker Erika off the Brittany coast with its subsequent oil spillage and dramatic environmental damages - The cases of Clichy-sous-Bois and Villiers-le-Bel, two Paris suburbs where the deaths of several young boys and men linked to police action sparked off a series of severe riots. Jean-Pierre Mignard belongs to the Scientific Council of the Graduate School of Comparative Law at Sorbonne University in Paris. He also teaches Media Law to Master of Laws students at the Paris Institute of Political Studies and to Continuing Education students at the Institute’s School of Journalism. He founded Lysias law practice (now Lysias Partners) in 2002 and is today President of the firm’s Executive Committee.
